Snake Plants
Snake plants or Mother-in-Law's Tongue- also known as Sansevieria (but reclassified as Dracaena) - are iconic houseplants prized for their upright growth, bold striping, and incredible durability. Native to arid regions of Africa, these plants naturally grow in bright light and warm conditions, storing water in their thick, succulent-like leaves to survive periods of drought.
Their sword-shaped foliage brings clean, architectural lines to any space. While they can tolerate lower light, brighter conditions encourage stronger growth, richer color, and the production of new shoots (often called "pups") from the base.
Snake plants prefer a very well-draining mix and benefit from allowing the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. With proper light and watering practices, they become one of the most resilient and long-lived houseplants you can grow.
